Don’t let burnout ruin your holiday.

It’s been a long – short year. It’s holiday time but for many, the year has taken its toll. Are you feeling burned out? Recognize the symptoms and use the break to refresh.

Sit down quietly and ask:

  • Have you become cynical?
  • Struggling to get excited about the day?
  • Get ting impatient and irritable?
  • Lacking energy to even do cool things?
  • Achieved much in the year but it means nothing to you?
  • Can’t face returning to the office?

On top of these symptoms, burnout can cause health issues such as headaches and stomach problems while increasing the risk of depression.

Try these tips to help you to enjoy your holiday and pave the way for a better 2024.

  • If your health is suffering, see your doctor. You’ll be the umpteenth patient struggling with burnout.
  • If you have access to company support or counselling programs, make use of it.
  • If your burnout is work-related, figure out what’s bothering you and resolve to sort it out when you return to the office. You can’t do anything about it in the holidays so close that file now, only opening it when you get back to work. Sort it out one way or another.
  • Talk to close friends and family. Seek another perspective.
  • Get some exercise and some sleep – both can restore well-being.

Above all, use your holiday to relax, and be mindful of all the good around you and within you.
